Florence Nightingale may be one of the most famous nurses ever to have lived. They say that she was the founder of the modern day nursing profession as we know it today. Nightingale earned her notoriety during the Crimean War, treating  wounded British service men. She earned the nick name “Lady with the Lamp,” due to her round the clock care of the soldiers. She went on to raise money for a military hospitals and concentrated heavily on sanitation issues.
